Cheers!

As we were leaving Gateway mall, they were loading up these snowmen from the mall holiday display.  It made me so happy to see them, especially since I LOVE collecting snowmen and have been hearing all about the snow back home.  It wasn't until I got home and was viewing the picture that I noticed the sign on the truck (or bakkie as they call it here).  It just makes me think that happiness really is a state of mind.  Are we choosing to hire out cheerfulness today as we recognize all that we have and learn to love what is?

Just a few thoughts to share on cheerfulness from the Bible:

  • Proverbs 12:25
An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.

  • Proverbs 15:13
A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.

  • Proverbs 15:30
A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.

  • Proverbs 17:22
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

  • Romans 12:6-8
6We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. 7If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach;  it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

  • 2 Corinthians 9:7
Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

    1. It's still so funny to see winter decorations in a place where Christmas is hot and sunny!
