Sharks Board in KwaZulu Natal

We headed out on a field trip to the KwaZulu Natal Sharks Board earlier this month with another homeschooling family. It was interesting to learn about the shark nets that they use to prevent "most" of the sharks from coming into the bathing (South African for swimming) areas. As we watched them dissect the copper shark, it was apparent that the kids were handling it much better than I was. I had a flashback to the frog dissection in 7th grade, not a great memory! We left with a greater appreciation and respect for the sharks that roam the Indian Ocean.

  1. What a great experience. Max is a shark fiend -- he would have loved to have seen this!
