You know you're in South Africa when......

You pull up to your local DIY builders store and admire this beautiful tree....

then notice that you're in a hazardous parking zone for frond fallout!

You read the Sunday paper headlines standing in line at the shops
and notice that the front page always has a big breasted woman on the front......
then notice the sobering crime stats on where you live
and realise how God has protected you every step of the way.

You read the census report and ....

You don't think the math is odd that 46% of homes have water piped into them
but 60% of homes have flushing toilets?
This is because you have personally carried a bucket of water to a toilet in the township
poured it in the tank,
then flushed it to the hole dug in the ground.

In spite of your "new" car being in the repair shop for 7 months since you've purchased it,
you still feel blessed to have transportation when 76% of people walk or ride the taxi.

You just can't believe there is a World Toilet Summit in the province that only has 60% of the population with flushing toilets and the majority of those are in outhouses!

You drop off your husband in the no drop off zone next to work
where the street vendor is selling food in the no vendor zone.

Think things are strange here?
Talk to the hand!
Apparently he wanders the streets of the Central Business District!
